Low-sided goods wagon M6 No. 67587 SBB 1912Versatile load carrierGood wagons with the designation M are low-sided wagons, whose sidewalls are less than 60 cm high and can be folded down or removed. They have slot-in stay bars (stanchions) made of wood or steel to support the load. In the years between 1905 and 1920, Swiss Federal Railways purchased a total of 1,070 type M6 goods wagons. These were mainly used to transport rock, logs, machines and heavy boxes. They disappeared from regular traffic in the early 1970s due to their inadequate length of 12,24 m. A few survived in service until the mid-1990s. M6 No. 67587 was built by SIG Neuhausen in 1912 and restored by a group of volunteers by the name of “Association 10264” in 1996.
